The Bao Yan sub-brand of Xiaguan is (aka Tibetan Flame) was originally developed to sell Xiaguan bricks and mushroom tuo to the Tibetan market in Yunnan, Sichuan, Qinghai, Gansu, and Tibet proper. The early releases of the Bao Yan brand began in the 1960's and were just raw bricks and mushroom tuo (jin cha). After the invention of ripe pu-er in the 1970's Xiaguan finally perfected it's ripe wet piling method and began to offer Baoyan branded mushroom tuo, bricks and then later cakes.

This 2008 Baoyan cake is made from fermented Lincang material (Yun Xian and Mengku). It's medium light fermentation, so there is still a sweet raw edge to the tea and a very slight whiskey-like peat/smoky. It takes several rounds to open up and give up it's goodness. We recommend brewing in a dedicated clay pot with the hottest water possible. This was dry stored in Guangdong for 7 years and has lost all of it's wet piled taste.

357 grams per cake, 7 cakes per tong.

Does tea have calories or carbohydrates?

Some loose leaf teas may have calories in them but they dissolve once hot water is added to it and have finished steeping the tea. Meaning; the tea will most likely help you loose weight. For example Oolong tea has about 2% calories but once you add the hot water the calories will be gone and should help with weight loss.

How long does loose tea stay fresh?

Freshness in canister is averaged at 6 months.

Freshness out of the canister is averaged at 1-2 months.

Refrigeration: For best results store your tea in an air tight canister and keep it in your
refrigerator for an average shelf life of over a year.

It tremendously boosts the overall health of your body.

What About Tea Is Healthy For Me?

Every person’s health is different, and requires different things, and every tea has different health benefits.

    What Does “Steep” Mean?

To “steep” tea is to submerge the tea in boiling water. The literal definition is to soak in water or other liquid, as to soften, cleanse, or extract some constituent. Allowing the tea to “steep” extracts the flavor from the tea leaves into the water. All tea has different steeping times, anywhere from 1 minute to 10 minutes.

How Much Tea Do I Have to Drink to Get the Health Benefits?

We recommend starting with at least 2-4 cups a day to receive the full benefit of the tea. After you start seeing results, you can just drink least 2 cups per day.
